IRON

Function:

  • transport of nutrients necessary for hair growth,
  • proper keratin production.

Deficiency:

  • thin and weak hair, 
  • hair loss.

Source:

meat (especially beef, liver, kidneys), parsley, dry legume seeds, eggs, brown bread, crustaceans, dried fruit, cereals.

ZINC

Function:

  • keratin production, the main hair component,
  • inhibiting the hair follicle miniaturization,
  • stimulating its regeneration,
  • stimulating hair growth,
  • antioxidant protection.

Deficiency:

  • disorder of the hair growth cycle,
  • hair loss,
  • dry hair,
  • narrow hair diameter.

Source:

oysters, liver, rennet cheeses, dark bread, buckwheat, eggs.

COPPER

Function:

  • proper synthesis of melanin.

Deficiency:

  • hair pigmentation disorders,
  • hair graying.

Source:

liver, wheat germ and bran, sunflower seeds, potatoes, oatmeal, nuts, cocoa, drinking water, kidneys, crustaceans, berries.

MANGANESE

Function:

  • acceleration of hair growth,
  • sun damage protection.

Deficiency:

  • hair loss.

Source:

dark bread, dry legume seeds (peas, beans), nuts, buckwheat, tea, cheese, milk, fish, cherries, oranges, watermelon, lemon, oysters, mussels, soybeans, rice, spices (incl. black pepper), coffee, berries.

SILICON

Function:

  • transports nutrients to the hair follicle,
  • participate in the formation of keratin,
  • increases hair papilla  volume, which determines the volume of the hair follicle.

Deficiency:

  • hair structure disorder,
  • hair loss.

Source:

green beans, beer, bread, rice, dried fruit, drinking water.

SULFUR

Function:

  • proper formation of keratin, the main hair building protein

Deficiency:

  • hair structure disorder, brittle and dull hair

Source:

egg whites, chicken, beef, fish, dairy products, garlic, onion, leek, chives, potatoes, tomatoes, truffle, beef, bread, nuts, coffee, grapefruit.

IODINE

Function:

  • direct influence on hair growth (stimulating the proliferation of hair follicle keratinocytes and inhibiting their apoptosis)

Deficiency:

  • hair loss, diffuse or focal alopecia,
  • the Hertoghe’s Symptom (loss of 1/3 of the side parts of the eyebrows),
  • hair loss in the armpits and intimate areas.

Source:

iodized salt, shellfish and molluscs, fish (cod, halibut, herring), milk and milk products, eggs.

SELENIUM

Function:

  • oxidative stress and free radicals protection,
  • correct hair follicle morphogenesis

Deficiency:

  • hyperplastic epidermis,
  • alopecia,
  • pseudoalbinism.

Source:

offal (especially kidneys), shellfish, fish, milk, eggs, mushrooms, garlic, dry legume seeds.
